Possible Alternatives to the Espresso - Part 4

Today we are going to analyze an unusual coffee, in fact I have never tasted it before, but I believe it is important to propose also this alternative, because of its Italian recipe which dates back to the Habsburg Monarchy rule in Italy.
For these reasons I suggest you to try the Caffè Imperiale (Imperial Coffee), I hope you'll enjoy it!

Ingredients for one cup:
  • half a cup of very hot coffee
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 spoon of sugar
  • half a glass of milk
  • 1 small glass of brandy
This recipe is very simple, in fact you just need to mix the egg yolk with sugar and brandy, then heat both the coffee and the milk and add them to the mixture. It is usually served in a glass or in a punch cup.

The variation for greedy people is to add some whipped cream on the coffee and cover it with some fluid chocolate; currently a trend has born to add some mint to coffee, so, for people who like this matching, there is another alternative which consists in adding some mint syrup to the coffee or to use it to colour the whipped cream.
